Hi, I’m April
I am the owner and primary photographer at April Peebles Photography. My specialization is in capturing YOU with those you love most. As a 40-something-year-old mom, one thing I know for certain is that women don’t tend to be in front of the camera much once they get out of college. They don’t feel “photogenic” enough, or their “no good in front of the camera,” or they “really need to lose those 15 pounds first;” and yes, even “why would anyone want photos of me?” It’s not vain to want to be remembered (and your kids may not realize just how important these photos will be just yet once you’re gone), and I know this little secret about how much a printed image can mean to some self-esteem, too. It’s my job to create a beautiful experience for you at my studio, in the end, showing you the most beautiful portraits you’ve seen of yourself.
In addition to photographing clients and helping them feel amazing in front of the camera, I am skilled in newborn handling and posing for the ability to photograph the entire family beautifully, and not limited to certain ages. I can also create one-of-a-kind on-location portrait destination experiences around the globe. I love my family of 5 (plus three fur-baby dogs), roller coasters, Game of Thrones, and spending time near the water, whether that be the river, lake, or ocean. I’m also a self-proclaimed Star Wars nerd and am anxiously awaiting Galaxy’s Edge with Disney Annual Passes!
I began photographing landscapes and flowers at a young age. The macro setting on my first 35 mm point and shoot camera was my favorite by far. Once I became a mom, I found a whole new appreciation for being able to get the shot with my camera. I became obsessed with light and shadow, and capturing my crazy toddler boys doing something before they moved on to the next thing five seconds later. I purchased my first DSLR in 2005 and started my business in 2013 focusing on newborns and families. Once my mom passed away in 2016 and we realized how little she was in front of the camera after high school (even before she was a mom), I became obsessed with photographing women in the most beautiful way I knew how. I would love to photograph you soon!
