Sweet Berkeley. Berkeley is absolutely gorgeous, and a girl who knows what she wants at the tender age of 4 weeks old. She does not want to sleep. She wants her pacifier. And she wants to be sweetly snuggled in your arms! Her little personality shines through, and she is already so expressive. Not typical for your average newborn. Here are some examples of the many faces of Berkeley:

Although we usually envision posed, sleepy images when we think newborn portraits, sometimes it is the awake images that take your breath away. Berkeley has the most beautiful big, brown eyes and they would have been missed if she slept through her session. And, that smile makes my heart smile.

Despite Berkeley’s best efforts, however, we were able to get some sweet, sleepy images of her. And yes, even one with her pacifier because that is Berkeley at this stage in life. Cozy and comforted by her pacifier.

My goal, no matter the age of my subject, is to capture the details of them in that moment. And this is sweet Berkeley.
